A brief History

  • 2014

     

    Founding

    Xuhengq was founded in Shanghai by two co-founders with strong backgrounds in economics and business. United by a shared vision to raise the standard of data quality and research transparency in China, they established the company to bridge the gap between international research expectations and local realities.

    What began as a lean operation with hands-on fieldwork and direct client collaboration has grown into a trusted partner for global agencies and brands seeking reliable insights across China’s diverse market landscape.

  • First Steps

    Our first steps were marked by partnerships with several mid-sized companies across China. These early projects — ranging from consumer surveys to channel audits and brand testing — gave us the opportunity to prove our capabilities in real-world, fast-moving market environments.

    Working closely with marketing and strategy teams, we helped clients in sectors such as food & beverage, personal care, and electronics better understand their audiences and refine their market approaches. These foundational experiences built the groundwork for our reputation in data quality, adaptability, and actionable insight.

    Hiring new team members

    As our project volume grew, we welcomed our first research assistants to the team. These early hires played a crucial role in supporting field coordination, data management, and client communication — helping us scale operations while maintaining the quality and responsiveness that defined our early success.

    Their dedication and adaptability laid the foundation for our collaborative team culture. Some of those first team members have since grown into senior roles, continuing to shape Xuhengq’s values and client-first approach.

  • Complex research projects

    With a growing track record and expanding capabilities, we began securing larger and more complex research projects. A key turning point came when we were selected to support a multi-phase consumer insight project for SAIC Motor, one of China’s leading automotive manufacturers.

    This collaboration involved survey design, in-depth interviews, and competitor benchmarking — providing SAIC with critical input for product positioning and customer experience strategy. Delivering on such a high-stakes brief marked a new chapter for Xuhengq, solidifying our ability to operate at scale and serve top-tier clients with precision and reliability.

  • 2020 - 2022

     

    COVID-19 pandemic times

    During the COVID-19 pandemic, we quickly adapted our operations to ensure continuity and safety. With in-person fieldwork restricted, we transitioned to fully online methodologies — leveraging digital panels, video interviews, mobile ethnography, and online survey tools to continue delivering high-quality insights without interruption.

    This period challenged us to rethink recruitment, engagement, and moderation techniques, and in doing so, expanded our digital research capabilities. The experience not only kept our projects on track but also strengthened our long-term agility and resilience in a changing research landscape.

  • International collaborations

    Today, Xuhengq LTD is expanding its reach and actively seeking international collaborations — particularly across Southeast Asia. As research demand grows across borders, we are building partnerships with agencies and clients looking for reliable execution and local expertise not only in China, but in neighboring dynamic markets such as Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

    With our foundation in rigorous fieldwork, strong project management, and cross-cultural understanding, we’re ready to support multi-country studies and regional insight programs. This marks the next chapter in our development — scaling our impact while staying grounded in quality and trust.
